A nationwide campaign celebrating the power of traditional games to bring generations together
This autumn, we’re bringing back the much-loved tradition of game nights with 'Bored Games', a nationwide campaign celebrating the power of traditional games to bring generations together.
At a time when social media and online gaming have transformed how people spend their leisure time, this initiative is shining a spotlight on the simple joy of gathering around a board game, enjoying some friendly competition and creating memories together.
Friendly competition is set to sweep across the country as more than 100 Care UK homes communities invite schools, local groups, families and neighbours to put their game faces on for events filled with laughter, connection and plenty of friendly rivalry.
Intergenerational events will give residents the chance to share their favourite games and childhood memories while making new ones with family, friends and the wider community.
From tournaments and Monopoly marathons to board game buddy initiatives, each home will be putting its own unique spin on the campaign.
At Metchley Manor, residents will step back in time for a 1950s-themed games day, bringing out classic games that evoke fond memories of their younger years. Meanwhile, Foxbridge House will partner with a local school to create a giant Snakes and Ladders board, taking the much-loved game to a whole new level for a larger-than-life challenge.
Bored Games is about more than simply bringing classic board games back to the table. It’s about bringing generations together, sharing treasured memories and creating new moments to enjoy – proving that sometimes, the best way to connect is simply to sit down and play.
