Birmingham liaison officer is runner-up in national healthcare awards

Company news

A Birmingham man providing excellent care for patients at a Sparkhill NHS health centre has been named as runner-up in a prestigious award competition.

Rajoo Miah, Patient Liaison Officer at The Hill General Practice and Urgent Care Centre, was among the staff recognised at the national Health Care Awards for doing all they can to improve services and standards for Care UK patients.

The competition, which judges say was the toughest they had seen, was open to Care UK’s 2,900 team members who provide expert care and services to patients at GP practices, diagnostics services, special treatment centres, out-of-hours services and prisons across the country.

Judges heard that Rajoo set up a patient forum during his first month in the job, and patients’ views were then used to change services to suit their needs. He also set up a home prescription delivery service and he has encouraged greater healthcare in the area by boosting registrations of new patients who will have access to the practice’s many services.

He said: “My career with Care UK started in April of this year and I have enjoyed every minute of my journey so far. I feel so privileged that I have been nominated and that my work has been appreciated. This nomination is not only for me, but the rest of my great colleagues who have supported me along the way. I look forward to many more great times ahead.”
