The local couple, who married in 1954, celebrated the day with family and friends as well as other residents and the team at the home.
They began their day at Old Dunnings Mill in East Grinstead, where Jean had once worked as a barmaid, before heading back to Mill View for a buffet and more celebrations.
Speaking about her special day, Jean said: “Ted and I met when we used to go dancing on Saturday nights at the Wyhteleafe British Legion. We belonged to a group called ‘Happy Days’ and we would visit other clubs in the area. Our eyes met across the dance floor one night and the rest is history!
“It was lovely that the team at Mill View took the time to celebrate our diamond wedding anniversary. It really is a home away from home and everyone is so friendly. It was a pleasure to have our celebration here.”
Soonita Shaw, home manager at Mill View, said: “We like to make all residents feel at home by keeping to any traditions they may have and take the time to celebrate special days like anniversaries.
“It was such an honour to celebrate Jean and Ted’s anniversary with them and everyone had a fantastic time. The team were especially excited to celebrate with the couple and hear stories about their life together.”
