Residents at Cathkin House get involved in making decisions about how the home is run. Some also help around the home and in the garden too.
We believe that, when an older person is supported to be independent and to do rewarding things, they’ll be happy and fulfilled. That’s why we organise daily activities and entertainment that will appeal to your loved one, so that they always have something to look forward to.
Enjoying meaningful activities
At Cathkin House we understand the importance of socialising. We encourage residents to mix in small, socially distanced groups where they are welcome to relax how they wish or to engage in the lifestyle programme.
If your loved one likes to feel useful, they’re welcome to help around the home. Members of our Friendship Club, for example, make cakes and biscuits for everyone to enjoy with their afternoon tea. Other residents help to prepare the home's hanging baskets for our gardens.
Our dedicated activities team create a weekly plan of activities for residents so that they can enjoy lifelong hobbies and even try something new! The packed programme of activities can include anything from news review sessions to gentle exercise, or fun games to sing-a-longs.
A strong sense of community
We work hard to make every day as fun as it can be and go above and beyond to ensure residents’ lives remains as normal and busy as possible. Cathkin House is very much a part of village life in Nerston. We have good links with local church groups, charities and schools.
We have a strong working relationship with our GP and other Health Care Professionals, and are finding new ways of working with them such as offering Virtual GP visits to all residents.
