Teresa Burgess

Home Manager

Teresa Burgess

I have been in the care industry for many years.

I began my journey as a care assistant and gradually progressed up the care ladder, accumulating valuable experience and knowledge along the way, eventually assuming the role of home manager.

My vision for Coronation House is to cultivate a relaxed, homely atmosphere that feels like a family for all residents and visitors alike. I strive for residents to find purpose and enjoy a fulfilling experience in the next chapter of their lives.

I lead a dedicated and experienced care team, all of whom are aligned with her vision and are committed to providing exceptional care to the residents.

Adele Barrett
Care Manager

I have a level three diploma in health and social care and a level five diploma in leadership and management for adult care. As well as these qualifications, I have completed a range of training including, safeguarding adults, medication management, infection prevention and control, dementia awareness, and end-of-life care.

As care manager, I feel it is important to be caring, patient, and approachable, with the ability to support both residents and colleagues in a calm and respectful way. You need to be organised and able to prioritise, as well as be confident in making decisions under pressure. Good communication and strong leadership skills are essential too so that you can ensure instructions are clearly delivered.

We are all here to ensure residents receive safe, high-quality, person-centred care every day. This means ensuring their needs, preferences, and wellbeing are at the heart of everything we do. Helping the home manager ensure the home is well-organised and compliant with all regulations and standards is another key part of my role. Alongside this, I focus on supporting and guiding colleagues, so they feel confident and able to provide excellent care, while maintaining a safe and positive environment for everyone.

My biggest career highlight to date has been achieving my level 5 diploma and being promoted to care manager. Both have been a really proud moment for me, as they reflect the hard work and commitment I’ve put into my career.

I feel privileged to see the positive impact we have on residents’ lives. Whether it’s seeing someone more settled, happy, and engaged, or receiving positive feedback from families, it reminds me that we are making a real difference. I particularly enjoy seeing residents laugh and enjoy the entertainment we provide.

Outside of work, I’m a big Disney fan and enjoy anything related to it. I also enjoy running regularly and taking part in races, which helps me stay active and motivated. Most importantly, I love spending time with my family and my two dogs, whether that’s going for walks or just relaxing together at home.
