Claire Hedge

Home Manager

Claire Hedge

I have over 31 years’ experience working in care homes, including 24 years as a Home Manager.

I hold the NVQ Registered Manager Award and am a qualified Dementia Care Mapper and Trainer, as well as an NVQ Assessor. During my career, I have also commissioned six care homes.

I joined Care UK after learning that Eggleton House was being built. I was keen to apply because of Care UK’s strong reputation, with more homes rated ‘good’ and ‘outstanding’ by the CQC than any other provider in the UK. I was also drawn to the organisation’s passion for residents and the training and support provided to help colleagues succeed.

As Home Manager, I believe strong leadership, clear communication and compassion are essential. Championing person-centred care and leading with kindness, patience and resilience sit at the heart of my approach.

The most important part of my role is creating a home that residents and families trust, while maintaining high standards and professionalism. I feel proud when I see residents happy and fulfilled, and colleagues feeling supported and can grow in their career.

My favourite part of the day is spending time with residents, listening to their stories and memories. My door is always open, and I look forward to welcoming you and your loved one to Eggleton House.

Outside of work, I enjoy yoga, pilates, swimming, motor racing, travelling with my family and long walks with my two cockapoos.

Customer Relations Manager

Almost all my career has been spent in customer service and sales related roles, several of which have been spent as Customer Relations Manager in care homes. Having been through looking at care options for my own grandparents, my own lived experience allows me to connect and empathise with families on their care journey.

I am proud to be in a role that helps families at what can be an emotional time, providing an empathetic shoulder to lean on and to really listen to their needs. I feel a real sense of pride when I can help a family, both the residents and their loved ones, to overcome any concerns and find a way forward together.

One of the things I love most about this role is chatting with the residents. All sorts of incredible things have happened to them – there’s always something new to learn about their lives and on my morning walk around it's great to hear what they are most looking forward to that upcoming day.

When I’m not at work I love spending time with my husband and two girls. I’m also a keen quilter and enjoy making patchwork quilts!

Our experienced teams

Every day Care UK colleagues live our values of passionate, caring and teamwork to empower residents to enjoy fulfilling lives.

Carers

Our hardworking teams always keep individuals and their families at the heart of the care they provide. We work with you to shape the care your loved one receives, the food they’re served, the activities and experiences they want to do – even the ways they prefer to keep in touch with their friends and family.

Nurses

The nurses at Care UK are highly skilled and receive sector-leading training, which enables them to keep developing expertise in different clinical fields from dementia to palliative care.

Lifestyle

Our dedicated lifestyle teams work hard to organise a range of activities and events at our home. From gardening and baking to quizzes, music sessions and even live entertainment. Above all, we get to know your loved one to make sure our activities are tailored to suit their interests and hobbies.

Home support roles

From catering to maintenance, housekeeping to administration, our home support teams play a crucial part in ensuring individuals enjoy an exceptional and safe service every day.

All our teams get to know each person they care for to ensure they provide a service that’s designed around their unique needs and tastes.

Infection control

Every colleague receives training in infection prevention and control as part of their induction and updates regularly through online and in-person learning. Our dedicated IPC Champions in each home help embed safe working practices and raise awareness of hygiene standards.
