Mill View care home on Sunnyside Close has presented local Macmillan nurses with a donation following a summer fundraising event at the East Grinstead care home.
The team at Mill View recently hosted a summer fete-style event to celebrate Care Home Open Day, where residents and visitors were joined by guest of honour, The Mayor of East Grinstead, Councillor Bob Mainstone.
The day was a great success, featuring live entertainment from singer, Britney Marais, who got everyone singing along with hits from the 50s, 60s and 70s. There was also a tombola, face painting and a pulled pork van to keep everyone in good spirits.
During the day the East Grinstead care home raised £148 for a locally run Macmillan cancer support service to say ‘thank you’ for their continued hard work.
Cindy Luscombe, home manager at Mill View, said: “We wanted to show our gratitude to Macmillan nurses and are delighted to have been able to make this donation. The local East Grinstead support group is so important to families and those with cancer, as it offers a listening ear when they want to talk and provides much needed support when people need it most.
“We had a brilliant day celebrating Care Home Open Day and it was a great opportunity to celebrate with visitors, residents and colleagues alike all in aid of a wonderful cause.”
