Buchanan Court is inviting local people to a free event where they can find out more about preventing falls among older people.
On Thursday 21st February, from 2pm-4pm, Buchanan Court is welcoming experts to give advice to the community at a free talk.
Buchanan Court’s physiotherapist, Stacy Newman, and Elaine Ferguson, from Fortuna Mobility, will be discussing common causes of slips and trips, as well as providing expert guidance on how to create safer environments for older people. They will also provide practical tips for maintaining independence and reducing balance problems.
After the event there will be a Q&A session, and those who attend will also have the opportunity to meet the team at Buchanan Court and take a closer look at the care home.
Ruth Halls, home manager at Buchanan Court, said: “Here at Buchanan Court, we seek to provide in-depth advice to people in the local community on topics relating to our work. To prevent health issues that occasionally occur from accidental falls, it is very important to the team and to the wellbeing of the residents that we provide essential information on fall prevention.
“It is imperative that we create a safe environment for older people in the community, and ensure that family and friends have the correct information to prevent accidents. We are looking forward to welcoming local people to Buchanan Court for what promises to be another interesting and inspiring afternoon of information and guidance.”
