Darlington court celebrates 15 years of caring

Home news

Residents and staff at Darlington Court joined in an afternoon of fun and celebration marking the care home’s 15th anniversary.

Along with their relatives, residents joined in with an old-fashioned sing along and watched a presentation of Irish dancing from local children.

Georgina Ansell and Gill Mead had been working with many of the residents to make the day a hit, helping them to decorate the home and plan the activities.

Georgina said: “The residents really enjoyed it. We have regular activities and everyone loves joining in with painting, singing and skittles.”

On the day, special awards were made to Jay Juanico and George Gibson who residents had nominated as “outstanding carers”.

Home Manager Linda Clements said: “Everyone really enjoyed themselves celebrating the anniversary.

“Residents in our home are encouraged to lead fulfilling lives and to maintain their independence through day-to-day choices.

“We appreciate the importance of quality of life. Our home has a full programme of activities, which cover a wide range of interests, and we maintain close links with the local community. churches, schools and local groups are regularly invited to participate in the life of the home.

“We have an exceptional team here. They don’t treat their job like coming to work, they treat it as if they were coming into the client’s home and that makes a real difference.“
