Royal wedding fever hit all of the Care UK homes in the run-up to Prince William and Catherine Middleton’s big day but it was Station House that won the company’s Best Royal Wedding Celebration competition.
Residents and staff at Care UK’s Station House home celebrated with a month-long events programme which included residents designing a plate for use by them and their guests at Station House’s street party on the day of the wedding, a display of wedding dresses throughout history, a reminiscence afternoon and a guess-the-wedding photo competition. The 69 residents also wrote congratulations letters to the happy couple, made corsage and button holes, tiaras and cravats, table decorations, bunting, invitations and flower displays. Musicians and drama students from the local college visited to entertain. Care Home Manager Carole Wardle said: “The entire home was buzzing with enthusiasm for the Royal Wedding and everyone got involved in the month of events.”
