On Wednesday 29th June Station House launched a two year programme to gain the prestigious Gold Standard Framework Care Homes Accreditation and the Quality Hallmark Award at Beacon status for its work with residents at the end of their life.
The award, approved by the NHS, Department of Health, Age UK and MacMillan Nurses, is designed to acknowledge the highest levels of end of life care and encourages choice and dignity for the patient as well as sensitive and affective support for relatives.
Carole said: “It has been quite a year. We have been nominated finalists in six regional and national awards and won two titles, but this could be our biggest challenge to date.
“Taking care of a person in their last days is a great responsibility, not only to them but to their family. My team are wonderfully caring and empathetic but this challenge will give us the framework to improve on our service and further help residents and their friends and families alike.”
