Children at Mead Primary School are waiting with bated breath to see whose competition entry will be chosen as the name for the town’s new pioneering dementia care home.
Care UK asked children at the school to think of a name for its new 70-bed home, due to open in summer 2012. Three were shortlisted and the pupils were presented with certificates during school assembly.
The final entries are:
Mill Brook - Freddie Beall: “I used to play pooh sticks on the bridge over the stream which is outside the care home, hence 'brook'.”
Mill Brook - Charlotte Grainger: “I chose this name because the stream at the bottom of Dunnings Road is called Mill Brook.”
Mill View - Rachel Everitt “Because it overlooks the old mill.”
The Greens - Harry Hainge: “It was an old bowling club.”
The names have been submitted to West Sussex Council for approval and Care UK will announce the winner in the new term. The winner will receive £100 worth of vouchers and will be invited to bury a time capsule in the home’s grounds.
