The team and residents at Paisley Court have raised over £300 to donate to a fund set up to help a young boy with cerebral palsy get the operation he needs in America.
A 24-hour darts marathon event was organised by nurse Karen Kelly after she heard about a fund to help nine-year old Yanne Nkurunziza, whose family are fundraising to enable Yanne to travel to America for the groundbreaking new treatment.
Home Manager Allison Kennie said: “One of our nurses, Nancy Mwangi, learned about Yanne through her church and told another of our nurses, Karen Kelly, all about him. Karen immediately jumped into her normal fund raising mode and suggested the darts marathon.
“She was incredible on the day, she kept everyone going and she managed to find fun ways of making even more money as we went along. I’m so proud of my team – they not only care deeply for people in our home and in the wider community but they step up to the plate every time and give their very best effort. Well done to everyone.”
