Visitors to Stanley Park will no doubt have heard the happy chirpings and twitterings of the newest residents as they sit in their special place outside the manager’s office.
Budgies Kiiro, which is Japanese for yellow, and Sweep have proved a hit with residents who come to visits them throughout the day. Manager Evelyn Tierney said: “They tweet away and they get far more visitors than I do!
“Every morning residents come for a little chat with the birds and they take a great interest in their wellbeing. We have two residents who, with the help of our Activities Coordinators, change their water, feed and cage linings, while others help to put the covers on at night and take them off again in the morning.
“The pair have settled in very well and they certainly brighten residents’ and visitors’ day. Many of the residents have kept birds as pets over the years and they love being able to play a part in taking care of Kiiro and Sweep now.”
