Compassionate East Grinstead receptionist wins national care award

Home news

A compassionate nature, a sense of fun and a winning smile have won an East Grinstead receptionist a national award from independent health and social care provider Care UK.

Caroline Newman, the receptionist at Mill View care home in Dunnings Road, was nominated by home manager Julie Millward. Julie said: “Caroline has a wonderful manner and always has a huge smile that greets all who walk through the door. She is always happy to help everyone in any way that she can and nothing is too much trouble for residents, their relatives or colleagues. She has a true love for the residents and will talk to them whenever possible. She just has a truly caring personality.”

As well as being excellent at her job, Caroline gets into the swing of the home’s many activities, getting dressed up as a flapper girl for one of the home’s open days, and she often entertains the residents with her singing and dancing – ABBA being a favourite in the home.

The judges in the awards said they were impressed with Caroline’s commitment, describing her as a “naturally passionate and caring individual who will do anything for residents”.

Caroline said she was surprised and honoured to be nominated for the award and stunned when her name was called out at a ceremony on Thursday 14th November at Heythrop Park Resort in Oxford. She said: “I love my work, it is the best job I have had. The home has a great team, wonderful residents and it is a joy to go to work each day to be a part of such a caring home.”

The awards were open to all Care UK homes and wellbeing centres across the country.
