Happy patient thanks treatment centre team for impressive service

Company news

They say you can’t beat a personal recommendation when it comes to selecting a service and that proved to be the case for 65-year-old Sylvia Wilkinson when she had to choose where to have a knee replacement carried out.

Sylvia, from Frome, knew a number of people who had been to Care UK’s Shepton Mallet NHS Treatment Centre and had sung its praises. So when her troublesome knee reached the stage where a replacement was the only solution, she had no hesitation in choosing the centre on Old Wells Road.

She said: “I’d never had anything like this done before so it was a big decision and a step into the unknown,” said Sylvia, “but I was so pleased I chose as I did because the whole experience was fabulous.

“When I saw the specialist, he confirmed an operation was necessary and I was offered an appointment for the operation within 10 days which I thought was amazing. I had to delay it a little as my daughter was not well at the time but it was still offered within a month.

“I was told to arrive at 6am as the operation was scheduled for 8am and at 8am on the dot it started. Everybody was totally on the ball with everything. I stayed in hospital for four days and it was wonderfully clean, the food was fantastic and the whole team was lovely. I really couldn’t fault anything.

“Before I left, the physiotherapist took lots of time to tell me what I had to do and he phoned me afterwards when I was home to make sure everything was ok. There was one time when I was a bit concerned because the knee felt very hot. So I phoned the treatment centre and the receptionist said somebody would visit straight away to examine me. It was fine but I was so impressed with the service.”
