Residents at Greville House recently celebrated national Nutrition and Hydration Week by trying an assortment of thirst-quenching drinks. Throughout the week, residents were served up a variety of exotic fruit punches, cocktails and smoothies, such as Hawaiian Fruit Punch, Tropical Fruit Cocktail with ice and lemonade and Apricot Smoothies. A well-balanced diet is high on the agenda at Greville House, however it is sometimes difficult to get residents to drink a sufficient amount – so this was a perfect opportunity for staff to encourage the benefits of ensuring plenty of fluids are taken on a daily basis.
A display was set up in the reception area and visitors were also encouraged to try the various drinks and promoted the positive benefits of drinking a sufficient quantity to avoid dehydration. Stanley is pictured enjoying his fruit cocktail.
The main function of the national Nutrition and Hydration week is to promote good nutritional care and the sharing of excellent nutrition and hydration practices. To celebrate the initiative, Care UK services in Bristol, Surrey and Suffolk organised an action-packed week of events to provide advice and guidance on the importance of a well-balanced diet.
Nutrition and Hydration Week (17-23 March) is collaboration between the Hospital Caterers Association, Patient Safety First and the National Association of Care Catering. The organisations work to create engagement with nutrition and hydration as an important part of quality care and have called on people to pledge their support for the initiative.
We are happy to arrange interviews with a range of experts, commentary on industry issues and site visits for filming, photography or sound recording. Please get in touch with your requirements and we will do our best to arrange a suitable response.
