First year anniversary celebrations at Worcester care home

Home news

Perry Manor on Charles Hastings Way welcomed the people of Worcester through its doors last weekend to celebrate the care home’s first anniversary.

Topping off a fantastic year, the team at Perry Manor opened the doors to the care home for a garden party. The family-friendly event featured a variety of activities for people of all ages to enjoy, including boules, table-top board games and live music. Visitors also enjoyed a glass of Pimms, a slice of birthday cake and picnic-themed canapés.

The celebrations at Perry Manor also coincided with Care Home Open Day – an annual initiative aimed at challenging perceptions of care homes, connecting residents with even more people in their community, and developing relationships across the generations.

Mike Dearn, home manager at Perry Manor said: “Our first anniversary was a really exciting milestone and it’s great that it coincided with Care Home Open Day and we had the opportunity to celebrate with so many people from the local community.

“Although our home is always open to guests, it was wonderful to have a day to really celebrate with visitors, residents and colleagues alike and show all the good work we do. It was pleasure to meet everyone and to give visitors the opportunity to take a look around Perry Manor.  We all had a wonderful day and hopefully we have demonstrated how modern care homes are warm and inviting while also strengthening our links with the local community here in Worcester.

Visitors to the Care Home Open Day event at Perry Manor were also be able to pick up their copy of Care UK’s Good to GoThe free guide highlights how important it is for those living with dementia – and their carers – to get out and about, and the emotional and physical benefits of staying active.

Good to Go provides practical advice on how to make the most of every outing, big or small, with words of encouragement volunteered by people working in Care UK care homes, as well as residents and family carers.
