Manor House Music surprise Kingsfield’s resident with a classical performance.

Company news

Last Friday, the residents and staff at Kingsfield care home in Favesham were amazed as the care home was transformed into a classical music concert for the afternoon.

With the arts being this year’s theme for Care Home Open Day, combined with the inspiring success of a new publication written by Kingsfield’s resident Jean Chesterman, the team at the care home arranged an afternoon for all to celebrate and enjoy.

Rehearsals for the classical performance from Manor House Music kicked off at 1pm, much to Jean’s surprise. “We decided to keep this as a surprise for Jean as she does so much within the community, she really deserved something special” said Jane Higgins, Kingsfield’s home manager. “We invited her family to come along and enjoy the afternoon with her and all of the residents here” she continued.

Jean regularly visits local classical music students, just up the road from the care home and enjoys listening to music whilst she writes and draws at her desk, making this choice in performance a real treat for her.

“I see good things here at Kingsfield in what the team does. They’re extremely understanding and very kind. They have a huge amount of patience and go out of their way to be helpful” commented Jean.

“The performance here today was wonderful – I really enjoyed it and it was a great afternoon with my family”

Vaughan at Manor House Music spoke about the event: “We enjoyed playing at Kingsfield care home last Friday. We had a marvellous welcome from Nicole, Jacky and the team and could see straight away the devotion and energy they seemed to put into everything – truly inspiring!”

“We also spoke with many of the residents and got to know Jean and her two sons Andrew and Danny (and Danny’s miniature schnauzer!). Jean is a remarkable lady and gave me a copy of ‘Roundabout’ – her latest published poetry.”

Along with the music concert, the home also organised a raffle and games to celebrate the annual Care Home Open Day and invited the general public to join them.
