Joan Mills turned 95 years 'young’ on Saturday 27th June and family and friends joined the Ambleside team for a tea party with a birthday cake. Joan and her husband John, who have been married for 71 years, moved to the care home in September 2014.
Dawn Leaver, home manager at Ambleside, said: “Celebrating Joan’s 95th birthday here at Ambleside was such an honour and everyone had a wonderful time. We always take the time to celebrate special days like birthdays and anniversaries and we like to make all residents feel at home by keeping to any traditions they may have.”
Joan was born in 1920 in Leamington Spa where she lived with her parents. Joan enjoyed ballroom dancing in her younger years and was a keen cook. Joan and John both share a love of walking and have spent many happy holidays walking in Cornwall and Austria, they both enjoy chatting with the other residents and telling them all about their adventures.
