Mayor of Stockport officially opens Cheadle care home

Home news

The Mayor of Stockport, Councillor Andrew Verdeille, was given the honour of cutting the ribbon and officially opening Abney Court care home at its grand launch event.

Family, friends and local people joined the team at Abney Court for the ‘roaring twenties’ celebration, complete with a Great Gatsby-inspired party band, the Charleston Charlies, who performed hits from the 1920’s and 1930’s to help the celebrations go with a swing.

Home manager, Tracy Mitchell, said: “As with everything we do at Abney Court, residents and their families were at the heart of the launch celebrations and we were delighted to have a visit from the Mayor to officially open the home and mark this important milestone.

“It was fantastic to welcome so many local people to Abney Court, and the live entertainment from the Charleston Charlies helped to bring all generations together. We really did celebrate in style and our launch was a day to remember.”

Abney Court has been designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, with care and activities tailored to each individual. There is a cinema, hairdressing salon and a coffee shop. For people who want to relax outdoors, there are landscaped gardens with attractive patio areas.
