Health and wellbeing roadshow comes to Cheadle care home

Home news

People in Cheadle and surrounding areas are invited to a health and wellbeing roadshow on Wednesday 27th April at Abney Court care home.

From 1.30pm to 3.30pm, the team at Abney Court will be joining with local community partners to provide a wealth of health and wellbeing knowledge for local people.

Greater Manchester Fire Service will be arriving at the care home in Abney Hall Park and offering tours of the fire engine available throughout the afternoon. They will also be on hand to provide safety advice, including the five main causes of fire, bedtime routines and escape plans, and visitors will have the chance to learn a lifesaving skill by taking part in free CPR training.

For those looking to take time out and relax, representatives from The Body Shop will be offering complementary treatments from the comfort of the care home’s café.

There will also be the opportunity to gain access to expert advice from the Stroke Association and find out more about range of resources which are available for those in the different stages of stroke recovery. Representatives from Stroke Association will also cover how to recognise the signs of a stroke and a Transient Ischaemic Attack (TIA) – commonly known as a mini stroke. Visitors will also be able to take advantage of a free blood pressure check.

Abney Court home manager, Tracy Mitchell, said: “We are looking forward to opening the doors to the care home for this unique event and to showcase the knowledge and expertise we have readily available in the local community. With health and wellbeing becoming more of a focus as we age, we understand that it is important to provide local people with access to the help and support they need live well in later life.

“Throughout the afternoon visitors can take the opportunity to ask questions and there will also be a chance to meet the team at Abney Court and to take a look around the care home. All are welcome, however places are limited so I would urge those interested to register their attendance.”

The event is being hosted in collaboration with Stockport Homes
