Cumberland care home invites people in Mitcham to celebrate Care Home Open Day

Care UK’s Cumberland care home in Mitcham, is inviting local people to visit the home on Whitford Gardens on Friday 17th June to join in its celebrations for Care Home Open Day.

From 10.30am until 4pm, the team at Cumberland will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event. The day is in celebration of Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities. 

In honour of The Queen’s 90th birthday, there will be right royal celebration at Cumberland care home on Friday. Residents and visitors will be able to enjoy high tea and refreshments, and there will be entertainment to help everyone get into the party spirit. There will also be a host of stalls, and all those who drop-by on the day will also have the opportunity to meet the Care UK team at Cumberland and take a tour of the care home. 

Tamba Lamina, home manager at Cumberland, said: “Care Home Open Day is about connecting people and enriching the lives of residents through building lasting relationships with the local community across the generations.  

“Opening our doors is also a great opportunity to show what life is really like in a modern care home; and we hope to change any preconceptions people might have while also showing everything Cumberland has to offer. 

“We have got a fun day of activities planned and are really looking forward to getting behind Care Home Open Day on Friday 17th June and welcoming the people of Mitcham to be a part of it.”
