From 2.30pm-4.30pm, Bridget Penney, a dementia specialist at Care UK, will be on hand to help people understand what it might be like to live with dementia. There will be information on what dementia is and how memories are lost, as well as useful tips on how to overcome communication barriers – with the aim of helping people discover positive approaches to caring for loved ones living with dementia.
Everyone who attends the event will have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss their own personal experiences, and there will also be a chance to meet the team at Perry Manor and take a tour of the care home.
Perry Manor home manager, Pushpa Sagoo, said: “At Perry Manor we strongly believe professional knowledge, insight and shared experiences can make a real difference to the everyday lives of those caring for loved ones loving with dementia. With the team here committed to offering advice and practical support, we are delighted to invite members of the local community to our Understanding Dementia event.
“Previous events have proven to be incredibly popular, so we are looking forward to welcoming local people to Perry Manor for what promises to be another interesting and inspiring afternoon of information and guidance.”
All those who visit Perry Manor can also pick up a copy of Care UK’s latest advice guide for family carers, Eating as we age, which is packed with hints and tips for keeping healthy and hydrated in older age.
