From 2pm until 4pm, the team at Cathkin House will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event. The day is in celebration of Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.
People of East Kilbride are invited to meet the home manager, Lynn Rossi, and find out more about what life is like a Cathkin House. Visitors will also be able to enjoy tea and tempting homemade cakes baked by the care home’s head chef.
Lynn Rossi, home manager at Cathkin House, said: “Care Home Open Day is about connecting people and enriching the lives of residents through building lasting relationships with the local community across the generations.
“Opening our doors is also a great opportunity to show what life is really like in a modern care home; and we hope to change any preconceptions people might have while also showing everything Cathkin House has to offer.
“We have got a fun day of activities planned and are really looking forward to getting behind Care Home Open Day on Friday 17th June and welcoming the people of East Kilbride to be a part of it.”
Visitors to the Care Home Open Day event at East Kilbride will also be able to pick up their copy of Care UK’s Eating as we Age. The latest in a series of free guides for family carers, Eating as we age is packed with hints and tips for keeping healthy and hydrated in older age. The guide can also be downloaded free at www.careuk.com/eat
