Elizabeth Lodge care home invites people in Enfield to celebrate Care Home Open Day

Care UK’s Elizabeth Lodge care home in Enfield, is inviting local people to visit the home on Pennington Drive on Saturday 18th June to join in its celebrations for Care Home Open Day.

From 2.30pm-4pm, the team at Elizabeth Lodge will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event. The day is in celebration of Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities. 

The theme of this year’s event at Elizabeth Lodge is celebrating the Rio 2016 Olympics, complete with a variety of games for the local community to get involved in. Giving the event a traditional feel while also engaging the spirit of competition, residents and visitors will be able to enjoy entertainment and test their skills at  a bean bag throw, cup staking and a wheelchair egg and spoon race. There will also be a family tug of war and a quick fire quiz.  

Donna Cousins, home manager at Elizabeth Lodge, said: “Care Home Open Day is about connecting people and enriching the lives of residents through building lasting relationships with the local community across the generations.  

“Opening our doors is also a great opportunity to show what life is really like in a modern care home; and we hope to change any preconceptions people might have while also showing everything Elizabeth Lodge has to offer. 

“We have got a fun day of activities planned and are really looking forward to getting behind Care Home Open Day on Saturday 18th June and welcoming the people of Enfield to be a part of it.” 

Visitors to the Care Home Open Day event at Elizabeth Lodge will also be able to pick up their copy of Care UK’s Eating as we Age.  The latest in a series of free guides for family carers, Eating as we age is packed with hints and tips for keeping healthy and hydrated in older age.  The guide can also be downloaded free at www.careuk.com/eat
