From 11am until 3pm the team at Mill View will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event. The day is in celebration of Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.
In honour of The Queen’s 90th birthday, there will be right royal celebration at Mill View on Saturday, and the Mayor of East Grinstead, Councillor Bob Mainstone, will be visiting as guest of honour. Singer, Britney Marais, will be performing classic songs from the 50s, 60s and 70s; and everyone will be able to enjoy refreshments including pulled pork and a barbecue. In the style of summer fete, there will be a charity and community stalls, face painting and fun games. There will also be a car boot sale, giving residents and visitors the chance to pick up a bargain.
Cindy Luscombe, home manager at Mill View, said: “Care Home Open Day is about connecting people and enriching the lives of residents through building lasting relationships with the local community across the generations.
“Opening our doors is also a great opportunity to show what life is really like in a modern care home; and we hope to change any preconceptions people might have while also showing everything Mill View has to offer.
“We have got a fun day of activities planned, and are really looking forward to getting behind Care Home Open Day on Saturday 18th June and welcoming the people of East Grinstead to be a part of it.”
Visitors to the Care Home Open Day event at Mill View will also be able to pick up their copy of Care UK’s Eating as we Age.
