Birthday celebrations were in full swing when resident Hilda Beard celebrated her birthday. Hilda turned 103 years ‘young’ on 10th November, and revealed the secret to staying healthy is enjoying life to the full and staying close to loved ones.
To celebrate her milestone birthday, Hilda was joined by family, friends and residents for a party hosted by the team at the care home. Special guest Councillor Kathy Bance MBE Mayor of Bromley also attended the celebrations.
Hilda was born on 10th November 1914 in Birmingham and has lived all over the world, including in Ethiopia and Egypt, where she travelled with her first husband, Charles Edmond Venables, during the war.
Hilda loves to take part in all activities at the home and especially enjoys knitting – but having a sing-song and a party with friends and family is what Hilda loves most of all.
Hilda has lived at Foxbridge House care home since May 2017, after making a lot of friends at the home whilst spending time in respite care there.
Carol McCormack, home manager at Foxbridge House, said: “Residents are at the heart of everything we do here at Foxbridge House, and we always like to make an occasion of birthdays.
“To celebrate Hilda’s 103rd birthday, we held a special party here at the home, and it was lovely to be joined by Hilda’s family and friends, as well as Councillor Kathy Bance MBE Mayor of Bromley, for this important milestone.”
