Work has begun on a new £8.2 million care home which will provide quality care for older people in Sidcup.
Care UK and specialist construction partner, Castleoak, have celebrated the start of work on the purpose-built home on Frognal Avenue, which will form part of a retirement village developed by Birchgrove. When complete, the newest care facilities will provide full time residential, nursing and specialist dementia care for up to 80 older people, and create over 100 jobs.
The three-storey home, which is expected to welcome its first residents in late 2018, will include facilities such as a cinema, café and hairdressing salon. Secure and wheelchair friendly landscaped outdoor space will include sensory gardens, water features and seating to give residents the opportunity to spend quality time outdoors.
Gary Renton, project manager for Care UK, said: “We are delighted work has begun on the new care home in Sidcup, not least because this impressive development reflects our commitment to improving the provision of residential care in the town.
“At Care UK, we take great pride in the build quality, layout and design of each individual home, as these factors can greaolder people in Sidcup and beyond.”
Stephen French, site manager at Castleoak, said: “Construction of this high-quality new care facility has got off to a great start, and we are on schedule to complete the scheme in December 2018. This is a high-profile project for Castleoak, and we are proud to be playing a part in the delivery of this much-needed new care home for the Sidcup community.”
