On Thursday 1st February, from 2pm-4pm, local people are invited to visit the care home to join in the celebrations.
With the first residents having moved into Buchanan Court in November, everyone at the home is gearing up to mark its official opening – with a little help from some special guests.
The Mayor of Harrow will be joining residents and the team at Buchanan Court to help cut the ribbon during the official opening ceremony, and will be on hand to welcome the local community to the landmark event.
Children’s author, Jeanne Willis, will be visiting the home to give a special reading, and guests will have the opportunity to take part in a workshop based on her book, The Bog Baby, and get their copies signed.
Pupils from St George’s Catholic School will be performing a selection of residents’ favourite songs, and a local singer will be providing further musical entertainment. There will also be a number of activities taking place throughout the day, including cake decorating, arts and crafts, jewellery making, hand massages and reflexology sessions.
Those who attend the event will also have the chance to meet the team at Buchanan Court and take a tour of the care home, as well as enjoy food and refreshments made by the head chef.
Buchanan Court home manager, Angela Kamara, said: “Since we opened the doors to Buchanan Court, we have had such a warm and positive response from those living locally, and we already feel like part of the community. We would therefore like to invite the people of Harrow to be part of our official opening celebrations.
“We have planned a family-friendly event to appeal to all generations, and we are delighted to have so many special guests coming along on the day to help us mark this important milestone.”
