Afternoon with the Mayor was a sweet treat for Sherwood Grange

Home news

Residents from Sherwood Grange enjoyed afternoon tea with a twist when they were visited by a very special guest.

The Mayor of Kingston Upon Thames, Councillor Julie Pickering, visited residents at Sherwood Grange care home in Kingston Vale to enjoy an afternoon of conversations and homemade cakes. Councillor Pickering gave a talk all about life as a mayor and about upcoming projects in the town.

The visit was particularly special, as resident Penny Shelton was also the Mayor of Kingston upon Thames in 2013, and they enjoyed a good chat about their experiences.

Rick Mayne, home manager at Sherwood Grange said: “Here at Sherwood Grange it is important for us to build strong relationships with the local community, and so we were delighted to be visited by Councillor Julie Pickering.

“It was lovely to spend time with the Mayor, and the residents were very excited about the visit. Everyone had a wonderful day, and we look forward to inviting Mayor Pickering to Sherwood Grange again.”
