On Saturday 21st April, from 11am-4.30pm, the team at Cumberland will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event. The day is in celebration of Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.
Cumberland has organised a Commonwealth themed party to celebrate the open day, with residents creating homemade bunting inspired by countries from around the Commonwealth to decorate the home.
Visitors can look forward to an ‘opening ceremony’ in honour of the commonwealth games, as well as sporting events happening throughout the day, including weightlifting, volley ball, lounge bowls and shooting. Visitors will have the opportunity to join in the games and winners will be presented with their own medal.
Tamba Lamina, home manager at Cumberland, said: “Care Home Open Day provides residents and the team with a fantastic opportunity to welcome the local community to the home.
Residents have really enjoyed decorating Cumberland with homemade bunting, inspired by countries from around the Commonwealth. We hope that the people of Mitcham will join us in making this year’s event one to remember.”
