On Friday 20th April, from 11am-4pm, the team at Abney Court will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event with a guest appearance from Commonwealth Games and Olympic medallist James Goddard.
Care Home Open Day is a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities and Abney Court has organised a Commonwealth themed party to celebrate. There will be homemade bunting, inspired by countries from around the Commonwealth, decorating the home and James will be on hand to meet and greet visitors from 10.30am, as well as showing his medals and talking about his sporting successes.
Nuffield Health will also join the celebrations and launch their partnership with Abney Court. They will offer beauty treatments from 11am-12.30pm and will run a fitness class from 11.30am-12.30pm.
There will be also be live entertainment from The Michael Cretu Duo in the afternoon and delicious dishes inspired by countries in the Commonwealth, prepared fresh by the home’s chefs.
Tracy Mitchell, home manager at Abney Court, said: “At Abney Court, we’re always looking for ways to get to know our neighbours and building relationships with the local community. Care Home Open Day is a brilliant way of bringing generations together for a fun-filled day.
“We look forward to welcoming the people of Cheadle for what promises to be a fantastic open day in honour of the Commonwealth.”
