On Saturday 19th May, from 12 noon-4pm, Cumberland is inviting local people for a ‘right royal knees up’ and to raise a glass to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
The home will be adorned with union jack bunting and residents will have their British flags at the ready for a live screening of the wedding. The care team has also organised a royal street party, with live entertainment from local singer, Tricia Court, who will perform everyone’s favourite songs.
To kick off the celebrations, the home is planning a week of royal inspired activities in the lead up to the wedding. Residents will be taking part in a wedding bouquet arranging lesson, a ‘royal quiz’ and a karaoke session in preparation of the big day.
Mariana Motocu, home manager at Cumberland, said: “Celebrating Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding day is not only a wonderful opportunity to bring the community together, but it’s also a great reminiscence activity for residents – particularly for those living with dementia.
“Many of the residents love to talk about the Queen and her life, so celebrating the marriage of her youngest grandson is a great talking point for us here at Cumberland.
“We’re looking forward to bringing the bunting out once again for a day of celebrations, and we hope the local community will join us in raising a glass to the royal couple!”
