How to prevent slips and trips - Sherwood Grange hosts free advice event

Home news

A popular information event is returning to Sherwood Grange care home, providing advice about preventing falls among older people.

On Thursday 27th September, from 2.30pm-4.30pm, the home is welcoming experts to give advice to the community at a free talk.

Harm Gordijn, falls management and prevention specialist at Care UK, will be visiting the home to discuss common causes of slips and trips, as well as providing guidance on how to create safer environments for older people. He will also provide practical tips for maintaining independence and reducing balance problems.

After the event there will be aQ&A session, and those who attend will also have the opportunity to meet the team at Sherwood Grange and take a tour of the care home if they wish.

Rick Mayne, home manager at Sherwood Grange, said: “Here at Sherwood Grange, we seek to provide in-depth advice to people in the local community on topics relating to our work. Falls prevention is very important to the team, and to the wellbeing of the residents, as accidentalfalls can occasionally lead to further health issues.

“It is imperative that we create a safe environment for older people in the community, and ensure that family and friends have the correct information to prevent accidents. This event has proved popular in the past, so we are looking forward to welcoming local people to Sherwood Grange for what promises to be another interesting and inspiring afternoon of information and guidance.”
