Buchanan Court resident raises hundreds for children’s charity

Margaret Palmer, a resident at Buchanan Court and lifelong volunteer for Save the Children, organised her own fundraising event at the home, ‘Stand with Margaret’.

To raise the funds, Margaret gathered a team of residents to craft Christmas cards, winter hanging baskets and jewellery, which were sold during the event. On the day, the local community and volunteers from the National Citizen Service were in attendance to support the fundraiser.

Ruth Halls, home manager at Buchanan Court, said: “Margaret has always lived life to the full, from her time as a stewardess, to her years of volunteering – moving to a care home certainly wasn’t a reason to stop.

“We always encourage residents to remain active here at Buchanan Court and continue to embrace their hobbies, or even start new ones. Margaret did a fantastic job organising the event, and I would like to say thank you to everyone in the community who joined us on the day; we are thrilled to see how much money was raised. Well done, Margaret!”
