Harrow care home thanks local community for their support in heart-warming video

A care home in Harrow has thanked those who have gone the extra mile to support residents throughout the coronavirus pandemic, from the members of the community to its dedicated team members. 

Unable to say thank you in person yet, residents and team members at Care UK’s Buchanan Court, on Sudbury Hill, have sent out a virtual thank you, to express their gratitude for the consideration and generosity shown by the people of Harrow over the past couple of months.

From volunteering, to delivering messages and artwork to brighten everyone’s day, individuals and organisations have pulled together to support the older members of the community, and Care UK homes across the country have been overwhelmed by the kind gestures of local people.

Buchanan Court was inundated with support, receiving chocolates and toasties from its local Costa branch, the Friends of Buchanan Court and Orley Farm School, as well as flowers and plants for the garden from British Garden Harrow Weald. Team members were also treated to homecooked meals from Covid-19 Response Kitchen, while residents were surprised with a visit from Noviellos Ice Cream, who delivered some sweet treats on one particularly warm and sunny day.

Whether it’s baking for a resident’s birthday, keeping the morale up through creative activities, team members at Buchanan Court have also been praised for their unwavering dedication and relentless efforts over the past few months.

Simon Doherty, home manager at Buchanan Court, said: “We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported us over the past couple of months, whether that be through volunteering, sending tokens of appreciation, or helping us take our garden to the next level, especially with our head housekeeper Petra’s input.

“Every single thought, message and gesture has helped to raise the spirits of our fantastic team and has brightened the days of residents missing their families. It really has kept everyone going.

“On behalf of everyone at Buchanan Court, thank you so much.”

Buchanan Court has been designed to deliver the very best standards of care and to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives. The home provides full-time residential, nursing and specialist dementia care, as well as short-term respite.
