Care home search for Sale’s local heroes extended

Home news

A new care home in Sale has extended its search for local heroes in the community, giving them a chance to win a £500 cash prize.

Care UK’s Oakfield Croft, on Oakfield, is searching for local people or organisations who go above and beyond for their community, friends or family, and have a positive impact on the local area.

Care home search for Sale’s local heroes extendedInitially set for late April, the deadline was extended to give local people the opportunity to nominate their ‘lockdown heroes’, who could receive £500 should they be the winner.

Daniel Cole, home manager at Oakfield Croft, said: “We know just how challenging the last few months have been, but local people really pulled together and reminded us of the importance of a strong and united community. There has been a tremendous number of acts of kindness throughout the pandemic, so we’ve decided to extend our search to include those who went above and beyond during lockdown.

“Whether they’re a volunteer at a local charity who helped making PPE for key workers, a community group that really makes a difference to the area, or simply someone who goes that extra mile for others – share your story with us so we can reward them with the treat they deserve.”

To nominate your ‘local hero’, visit careuk.com/care-homes/oakfield-croft-sale/local-heroes before 5pm on Sunday 15th November 2020 and explain in 100-400 words why they deserve to be rewarded.

Oakfield Croft, which opened earlier this year, has been designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilling lives, while also promoting independence. The new care home incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities. The layout of the building is configured into a series of individual suites, each having a dedicated lounge/dining room to help facilitate the creation of close-knit communities, as well as facilities like a cinema, coffee shop and hair salon.
