Ashford care home celebrates first anniversary in style

Home news

A care home in Ashford celebrated its first birthday by enjoying a social-distanced party.

To celebrate the very special first anniversary, the Care UK team at Montfort Manor, on Kennington Road, organised a socially-distanced celebration, where residents enjoyed cake made by head chef and a glass of bubbly to mark the occasion.

The special poem had been written by Marion, whose husband, Colin, has lived at Montfort Manor since March. Marion wanted to thank the team for the care they have given this year and so emailed across the poem on the morning of the celebration.

Christine Sharp, who was the first resident to move into Montfort Manor, commented: “I had great fun at the party, there was a lovely atmosphere with everyone celebrating. Being here at Montfort Manor is fantastic, it’s great to be part of the home’s community and I have made a lot of friends since moving in a year ago.”

Cheryl Shorter, Home Manager at Montfort Manor, said: “The whole team worked hard to organise the event, and I am delighted to say that their efforts were rewarded – our first birthday party will definitely be one to remember for years to come. I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who celebrated our first birthday with us, and for helping to make the day extra special despite the current circumstances.

“It’s been an unprecedented but rewarding twelve months. We’ve welcomed lots of new residents to the home, built relationships with brilliant local organisations, and worked hard to create a homely environment for everyone who spends time with us here at Montfort Manor. While this year has not been without its challenges, we have adapted to the changing world around us to ensure every one of the residents continues to live a happy, fulfilling life in a safe environment. We’re excited to see what’s in store for the next year and beyond.”

Montfort Manor is a purpose-built care home which has been designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence. The home provides full-time residential, nursing and specialist dementia care for older people in Ashford, and incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities, including its own cinema, hairdressing salon and café.
