‘Tis the season to be jolly – and residents at a care home in Bracknell have been busy getting into the festive spirit.
The team at Care UK’s Bickerton House, on Warfield Road, has organised a host of activities, from Christmas crafts to creating festive hanging baskets, to inspire seasonal cheer throughout the care home.
The home team has also created its very own Christmas market trolley, where residents can help themselves to sweet treats, including ‘snow mallow’ lollies, hot chocolate and home-made gingerbread men. The trolley is also being taken around the home by team members, ensuring all residents can enjoy a festive treat.
The Christmas craft sessions have proved particularly popular. Residents have made edible crafts from gingerbread houses to snowmen lollies, as well as festive hanging baskets made out of leaves, tinsel, baubles and pine cones collected from the home’s garden.
Erika Smith, Home Manager at Bickerton House, said: “Here at Bickerton House, we encourage residents to live active and fulfilling lives. We have a full programme of seasonal activities, and our very own Christmas market trolley has helped residents and team members to feel festive. Everyone at the home has enjoyed coming up with new ideas for the Christmas trolley, and it’s lovely to see all the home-made decorations and hanging baskets on display.
“We’d like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas from all of us at Bickerton House.”
The purpose-built care home has been designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence. The home provides full-time residential, nursing and specialist dementia care, and incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities, including its own cinema, hair salon and café.
