Watch heart-warming short film created by a Maidstone care home

Home news

A Maidstone care home has created its very own heart-warming short film, titled ‘Together Again’.

Brian Thornton, Maintenance Manager at Care UK’s Invicta Court, along with Sara Barbosa, the Deputy Manager, were inspired by Christmas adverts and wanted to create a fictional film that shared hope and happiness this festive season.

The Care UK team asked residents and team members to get involved both onscreen and behind the scenes, and everyone jumped at the chance to take part in the project.

Pam Smith, a resident at Invicta Court, starred as a grandmother in the film, and Macie Tullett, Brian’s granddaughter, was cast as her granddaughter who decides to do a secret window visit.

Brian Thornton, who also filmed and edited the video, said: “I’m so glad that people have responded positively to our film, ‘Together Again.’ It took us three weeks to film and edit – but it was worth it to hear that it brought a smile to residents and their relatives. Everyone had a wonderful time taking part in this project, and we can’t wait to start planning for our next short film.”

Jacqui Pompeus, Home Manager at Care UK’s Invicta Court, said: “The home team has worked incredibly hard to make the ‘Together Again’ short film, with involvement from almost everyone here at Invicta Court – and it was all done while we continue to take the measures necessary to keep everyone safe and well.

“We encourage residents to live active, fulfilling lives and when Brian had the brilliant idea to make a short film, we decided to ask residents to be involved, whether that be as actors or behind the scenes. Pam Smith, a resident turned leading lady, did a fantastic job in the video and brought smiles to everyone’s faces.

“We’re glad that our video has lifted the spirits of those watching it this Christmas and we hope to make more projects like this in the future – well done to Brian, Sara and Pam and everyone who took part.”

The new care home offers a full range of older people’s care services in hotel-style surroundings, including a café, hair and beauty salon, bar and cinema. The highly trained, professional team delivers permanent and short-term nursing and residential care, as well as specialist dementia care.
