Local care home invites Witney residents to learn more about dementia

Home news

A care home in Witney is helping to create a dementia-friendly community.

On Wednesday 17th February, from 2pm-3.30pm, local people are invited to attend a virtual Dementia Awareness event hosted by Care UK’s Millers Grange care home, on Curbridge Road.

Jim MacLeod, Dementia Friends Champion and Customer Relations Manager at Millers Grange, will be covering a number of topics to help people understand what it is like to live with dementia. There will also be support and practical advice on what dementia is and how memories are lost, as well as useful tips on how to overcome communication barriers and discover positive approaches to living with dementia.

Jim said: “We know that it can be challenging to look after a friend or relative living with dementia. It’s natural to feel confused about the best way to help your loved one, so our event aims to offer professional knowledge and insight to those who need it – as well as providing a hub for shared experiences.

“We want people to know they’re not alone, and we’re here to offer support. This event has proven popular in the past and we’re are looking forward to welcoming local people to the home once again for an inspiring afternoon of information and guidance.”

For anyone unsure about how to take part in the virtual event, help is at hand. The team at Millers Grange will host the event using Zoom, an online meeting space. Simply call or email Customer Relations Manager, Jim MacLeod, and he will send a link to join the event and share his tips to make the most out of the session.

Millers Grange has been designed to deliver the very best standards of care and to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives. The home provides full-time residential dementia and respite care, and incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities, including its own cinema, hairdressing salon and café.

To book your place at this event, please call Customer Relations Manager, Jim MacLeod, on 01993 764730 or email james.macleod@careuk.com
