A care home in Whitstable has raised almost £2,000 for the Alzheimer’s Society.
The team at Care UK’s Harrier Lodge, on Thanet Way, has raised £1,989 in total for the charity by taking part in a socially distanced Memory Walk. The team walked 10km along the coastal path from Gorrell Tank car park to Hampton Pub and back again.
The Memory Walk initiative is organised by the Alzheimer’s Society, the leading dementia charity in the UK. They campaign for change, fund research to find a cure, and have helplines and advice groups in order to support those living with dementia and their loved ones.
Diane Collins, Home Manager at Harrier Lodge, said: “Dementia is a condition that affects many people in our local community and those in our care – and so we are thrilled to be able to raise money for a cause which is particularly close to our hearts here at Harrier Lodge.
“Well done to the team for raising such an incredible amount. We’re glad that we can continue to support the charity so they can continue their vital work throughout lockdown.”
Harrier Lodge is a purpose-built care home which has been designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence.
