Cambridge care home welcomes local community for open weekend

Home news

A care home in Cambridge is inviting the local community to take a sneak peek inside its brand-new purpose-built facilities.

Care UK’s Heathlands House, on Bullen Close, will be opening its doors to the community on Friday 30th,Saturday 31st July and Sunday 1st August, so that local people can take a closer look at the state-of-the-art care home.

Members of the public can book an appointment to meet the team and take a tour around the care home, which comes complete with its own cinema, hair salon and café, and provides full-time residential, nursing and specialist dementia care for 64 residents.

Sharlene Van Tonder, Home Manager at Heathlands House, said: “We’re looking forward to finally opening our doors to Heathlands House this weekend.

“We understand how important it is to gain a real insight into a care home, which is why we’re encouraging local people to come and take a look around the care home’s facilities, meet the team, and find out more about how life in a Care UK home is special.

“Although restrictions have eased, the team will still be social distancing and following strict infection control measures to ensure everyone is kept safe. We’re looking forward to meeting the people of Cambridge, and giving them a taste of what life will be like at Heathlands House.”

Designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence, Heathlands House will incorporate space for hobby and leisure activities both indoors and out. The layout of the building will be configured into a series of individual suites, each having a dedicated lounge and dining room to help facilitate the creation of close-knit communities.
