Farm-tastic! Godalming care home wins national accolade

A care home in Godalming is celebrating after winning a national award. 

The Care UK team at Broadwater Lodge, on Summers Road, beat off stiff competition from care homes across the nation to win the Best Outdoor Environment category at the Caring UK Awards 2021. 

 

The awards celebrate excellence across the care sector, and highlight the outstanding contributions made by care home teams. The Best Outdoor Environment category is aimed at care homes with outstanding services that engage residents in the outdoors and are designed to improve their physical and mental wellbeing.  

With a summer house, wide paths and even its own farm, named ‘Codger’s Farm’, that houses pigs, goats, sheep, a turkey,  a small flock of chickens and a mixture of beautiful birds, Broadwater Lodge was commended for its imaginative variety of areas. 

The judges praised how the home team utilises its outdoor space to create meaningful activities that often include the residents feeding and grooming the animals and inviting family and friends of residents to explore the farm and create new memories.
