’Tis the season – Bury St Edmunds care home hosts festive extravaganza for local community

A care home in Bury St Edmunds opened its doors to the local community for some Christmas fun.

Care UK’s Glastonbury Court, on Glastonbury Road, welcomed local people to the home’s Christmas fair, bringing together residents, relatives, and the community.

Guests were given the opportunity to do a spot of Christmas shopping at a range of stalls and tried their hand at some special family-friendly games. To top things off, there was also a live performance by Paul Pleasants, who sang well-known Christmas classics which got everyone in the festive spirit.

Also in attendance was a very special guest, Father Christmas, who made a special stop off at the home to spread some Christmas cheer.

Speaking of the day, Barbara, 95, a resident at Glastonbury Court said: “It was lovely to see my great-grandchildren meeting Santa and their reaction for the first time – I never thought I’d be able to witness it in person.”

Ana Mihai, Home Manager at Glastonbury Court, said: “Building strong relationships with the  community is a key focus here at Glastonbury Court, so it was wonderful to welcome  local people to get into the festive spirit.

“Residents had a lovely time sharing Christmas stories with relatives, as well as meeting some new faces – it certainly put everyone in the festive mood!
