Worcester care home celebrates national award win

Home news

A care home in Worcester is celebrating after its dedicated team was recognised at the Care Home Awards 2023.

Care UK’s Perry Manor, on Charles Hastings Way, won the ‘Best for Specialist Care’ award, a category which celebrates the efforts of a care home using tailored healthcare solutions to ensure residents’ specific needs are met.

The Care Home Awards recognise and reward excellence and innovation in UK care home management, operation and delivery.

After working closely with the local ICB (Integrated Care Board), the team at Perry Manor identified a vital need in the community for specialist care, and launched a brand-new, high-needs suite to meet the care needs of the region. With space for 14 residents, the home’s new Malvern Suite has provided specialist care for people with complex neurological conditions, including dementia.

The opening of the suite has meant that local people in Worcestershire with complex needs can now remain close to their family who can be actively involved in their care. The suite is a home-from-home setting where residents feel safe, understood, and are uniquely cared for by a passionate and skilled team.

The service’s ethos is underpinned by the choice to only admit one new resident at a time every two weeks, as this enables the team to focus on the new resident as they settle in, while maintaining the wellbeing of other residents. As a result, Perry Manor has developed a reputation for a deeply person-centred approach to care.

One relative commented: “Since his [my husband’s] admission to the Malvern Suite… the service [has] given us the opportunity to find a new way of being. A new way to communicate and a new way to find joy in our relationship. I am once again his wife, albeit in a different guise, I am back where I belong, by his side helping him live well in his new way of life.”

Katherine Matthews, Home Manager at Perry Manor, added: “We are thrilled to have been named winner of the ‘Best for Specialist Care’ category at this years’ Care Home Awards.

“Winning is a testament to the team’s commitment and dedication to ensuring that all residents are supported to be able to live a happy and fulfilling life. The launch of our specialist Malvern Suite has meant that we’ve been able to help families stay closer together while enhancing life for their loved ones as they receive tailored one-on-one care from specialist team members. I'm thrilled that Perry Manor has been recognised for the positive impact we have on residents' welfare on a daily basis through careful care.

“I am so proud of the Perry Manor team, and all we have been able to achieve since opening the doors to our unique suite. We are thrilled to be adding another award to our collection!”
