Hats off to Worcester care home for hosting tea party fun

Highlighted home news

Residents at a Worcester care home stepped through the looking glass for a very special party.

Team members and residents at Care UK’s Perry Manor, on Charles Hastings Way, were joined by a local group of performers, who donned hats and costumes for a tea party inspired by the Lewis Carroll classic, Alice in Wonderland.

The local entertainment group, Doorstep Princesses, arrived dressed up as the Queen of Hearts, the Cheshire Cat, the White Rabbit and even Alice herself. Residents and team members also enjoyed singing along to songs inspired by Alice in Wonderland thanks to a special performance from the entertainers.

A local business, The Doorstep Princesses is made up of professional performers and entertainers that specialise in entertainment for all ages.

The home was adorned with decorations handmade by residents, including bunting, signs and crêpe flowers. Residents were also treated to rocky road cakes and muffins, specially made by the home’s Chef.

Betty Hann, a 96-year-old resident at Perry Manor, said: “I had a wonderful time – the activities team always go above and beyond to make it extra special for us. I loved having a good sing-along during the tea party too!”

Katherine Matthews, Home Manager at Perry Manor, said: “We had a wonderful time creating our Wonderland Tea Party – it was a definite hit.

“It was very much a team effort, from residents who made the lovely decorations, to The Doorstep Princesses who dressed up as classic characters.

“We always try to come up with fun activities here at Perry Manor, and taking inspiration from our favourite books from childhood is a fantastic way to encourage reminiscence – all while being creative and enjoying some delicious treats too. Thank you again to The Doorstep Princesses – we’re already looking forward to our next tea party!”
