National inspectors praise Littlehampton care home

Highlighted home news

A national care watchdog has given a care home in Littlehampton its seal of approval, with relatives and residents praising the caring and attentive team members.

The Care Quality Commission’s (CQC) report gave Care UK’s Darlington Court, on The Leas off Station Road, an overall ‘good’ rating, following an unannounced inspection.

Inspectors noted residents were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives. The team supported them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests. This approach has seen residents achieving good outcomes, including improvements in their health and wellbeing.

Residents and their relatives spoke highly of the team and the support they provide. One relative said: "They are caring, and I get on with them all." Another relative said: "The team seem caring. They take an interest in what my relation likes. If she's unhappy they try to understand why."

Inspectors were particularly impressed with the positive culture within the home. One team member said: “I am happy working here and I would definitely feel happy for a family member to come here. We try and provide everything we can for people to make it a good place to live.”

Another team member commented: "It feels like a family here, the manager is very supportive."

Nikki Burke, Home Manager at Darlington Court, said: “The team at Darlington Court has worked tirelessly to ensure we offer a true home-from-home to all the residents and their families, and everyone is really proud of achieving the good rating.

“It’s wonderful to see the CQC praise our efforts in ensuring residents live a happy and fulfilled lives.

“Receiving a ‘good’ rating shows just how dedicated the team has to looking after every individual’s needs, and we will continue our hard work to ensure residents receive compassionate, person-centred care. I would like to say thank you to the team for their dedication, which I know is also greatly appreciated by residents and their families.”
