A local care home has taken inspiration from the Chelsea Flower Show and hosted their own event.
Residents and the team at Care UK’s Foxbridge House, on Sevenoaks Road, have been rolling up their sleeves to create a beautiful garden. Now in full bloom, they opened their doors to the community to showcase their hard work and homemade crafts made by the residents.
Resident June Haley, aged 94, said: “The garden is nice, and I like the colour of all the flowers. I had a good time. I do enjoy pot planting; I had a garden before coming here to Foxbridge House.”
Stella Barnes, Home Manager at Foxbridge House, said: “We’re pleased to say our garden show was a success. We loved welcoming the community and showcasing all the hard work we’ve put into making the garden a special place.
“Here at Foxbridge House, we understand that gardening and being outdoors can positively impact those living with dementia, including promoting exercise, cognitive stimulation and increased social interaction. The garden is a space we are very proud of and a place residents love to spend time in.
“We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who joined and to the team for their hard work in helping to prepare this event.”
Foxbridge House has been designed to deliver the very best standards of care and to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives. The home provides full-time residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care, and has its very own cinema, hair and beauty salon and bar.
